California Court Closures

Judgment Recovery is getting tougher, here is the latest news on court closures, downsizing, and reduction of usefulness of California courts:

Orange Superior Announces Reduced Clerk's Office Hours

Effective Monday, July 30, 2012, the Clerk's Office and Self Help Center hours of operation will be 8 am to 4 pm, Monday through Friday, excluding court holidays and the following exceptions:

- Courtrooms may remain in session until 5 pm
- Self Help Center will close at 3 pm on Fridays
- Night court sessions for small claims and traffic court will be held from 4 pm to 6 pm (see schedule)
- Courtroom at the Jail (CJ1) will be in session from 10 am to 7 pm
- Jury Services will remain open until 5 pm

Drop boxes are available at the following court locations:

Central Justice Center, Santa Ana:
Civic Center Drive entrance door slot

Harbor Justice Center, Laguna Hills:
Second Floor door slot

Harbor Justice Center, Newport Beach:
Parking lot drop box

North Justice Center, Fullerton:
Lower level parking lot drop box

West Justice Center, Westminster:
Near exterior traffic windows drop box

IMPORTANT: Documents dropped off after 4 pm WILL BE DEEMED FILED THE FOLLOWING DAY!

Orange Superior Announces Relocation of Civil & Small Claims Writ and Abstract Unit, From West Justice Center to Central Justice Center

Effective July 30, 2012, ALL Writs of Execution and Abstracts of Judgments must be mailed or delivered to:

Orange Superior Court
Central Justice Center, Civil Division
700 Civic Center Drive West
Santa Ana, CA 92701

Delays will occur if documents are mailed or delivered to any other court location.

San Diego Superior Announces
Closure of Branch Locations, Business Office Closures, Closure of Central Courtrooms, Probate Court Consolidation

Effective September 3, 2012, ALL CLERKS' BUSINESS OFFICES located at all San Diego Superior Court facilities will be closed to the public on Fridays starting at 12 Noon. These partial closure days are not court holidays, so statutory deadlines will not be extended. However, drop boxes are currently provided outside clerical offices for filing papers or submitting payments, pursuant to California Rules of Court, Rule 2.210.

Notice: Business Office Closures

Effective September 3, 2012, six (6) criminal courtrooms located at 220 W. Broadway and one (1) civil courtroom located at 330 W. Broadway will be closed.

Notice: Closure of Central Courtrooms

Effective September 3, 2012, all Probate Court operations located at 325 South Melrose Avenue, Vista, CA will be consolidated with and relocated to the Central Division Probate Court located at 1409 Fourth Avenue, San Diego, CA.

Effective September 3, 2012, the Ramona court facility located at 1428 Montecito Road, Ramona, CA (including its courtroom and clerk's office) will close, and all case matters will be relocated to the East County Division Courthouse located at 250 East Main Street, El Cajon, CA.

Effective September 3, 2012, one of the Juvenile Dependency courtrooms located at 325 South Melrose Drive, Vista, CA will be closed.

Fresno Superior Announces
Closure of Branch Locations in Clovis, Coalinga, Firebaugh, Kingsburg, Reedley, Sanger and Selma

Effective July 30, 2012, Fresno Superior branch locations will close for locations in Coalinga, Firebaugh, Reedley, Sanger and Selma.

Effective August 6, 2012, Fresno Superior branch locations will close for locations in Clovis and Kingsburg.

All operations shall be consolidated into the courts in downtown Fresno area.

Monterey Superior Announces Reduced Clerk's Office Hours

Effective Monday, July 30, 2012, all Monterey County Superior Court branches will reduce service hours for the public filing windows, Self Help Center services and telephones as noted below. The changes in public service hours will not affect the courtroom calendars or schedules.

Salinas, Marina, Monterey branches-
Monday-Friday, 8 am to 2 pm

King City branch-
Tuesday-Friday, 8 am to 2 pm (closed Mondays)

Document drop boxes are located outside each Clerk's Office for filing papers or submitting payments. Pursuant to California Rules of Court, Rule 2.210(b) any document deposited in a court's drop box up to and including 4 pm on a court day is deemed to have been deposited for filing on that day.

Ventura Superior Announces
Discontinued Use of EFSP, Vendor E-Filing.com

Effective August 1, 2012, Ventura Superior will discontinue use of E-Filing.com as its approved third party electronic filing service provider. Beginning August 1, 2012, the court will no longer accept electronic transmissions from E-Filing.com and/or Image X Enterprises on behalf of third party litigants.

    The North County Bar of San Diego is against w the closures. When they condone the conduct of lawyers like those mentioned and have a judge who conducts himself according to the articles as one of their September guest speakers, it severly undermines their credibility.
